Regulations

A. INTRODUCTION
1. TSR is a social venue providing races for 1/32 scale slot cars.
2. Membership is available on a per event basis.
3.Common sense and integrity keep rules few and simple.

B. GENERAL PRINCIPLES
1. A race is made up of 3 stages; practice,  inspection and heats.
2. A Junior is anyone aged 7-15 years on 1 January of that year.

C. RACING ETIQUETTE
1. Drivers use their own equipment and do not borrow.
2. No alcohol while racing.
3. No smoking inside building.
4. No eating or drinking while racing or marshaling.
5. No obscene or foul language.

D. RACE MEETING FEES AND PRIZES
1. Entry fees cover running costs and does not include prizes.
2. Prizes may be awarded as and when provided by sponsors.

E. RACING PRINCIPLES
1. A driver may enter only one car per class.
2. Cars may not be worked on while in the Technical Park.
3. Cars may be worked on during lane changes, but this will not delay the next session. Such cars may again be selected for Technical approval before re-joining the race.
4. Any damage that would make a car illegal must be repaired immediately.
5. Lane rotation allows every driver to race on all lanes, and is controlled by the timing system.
6. The number of laps completed will always be the result of the timing system. No lap corrections will be made for missed counting due to a car crashing, unless caused by a marshal placing the car on the wrong lane.
7. Any actual problems with the timing system must be confirmed by the Race Director, and once repaired, that segment will be re-run.
8. Lap corrections will be made for missed counting only if a car flies across the lap counter during a crash in the lap counter area, and if the Race Director views it as a missed lap (the car is subsequently placed before the lap counter).

F. RACE DIRECTOR AND TECHNICAL OFFICER
1. A Race Director and Technical Officer must be appointed at the start of the race meeting.
2. The Race Director is responsible for starting, stopping and re-starting a race, including the timing system where required.
3. The Race Director may also act as Technical Officer, responsible for the technical inspection of all cars except his own.
4. The Technical Officer will assist the Race Director in the technical inspection of all cars except his own.

G. MARSHALING (crash-and-run)
1. When a car de-slots the responsible driver must do his/her own marshaling.
2. When a car de-slots under the bridge or goes into an adjoining slot the responsible driver must shout STOP and all other drivers must immediately stop wherever they are. The offending driver must immediately remove his car upon which the other drivers may resume racing.
3. When a car de-slots anywhere but under the bridge or into an adjoining slot the responsible driver must shout CRASH in warning to the other drivers. The latter must all slow down immediately but do not have to stop unless blocked by the de-slotted car. The offending driver must remove his car immediately.
4. If a de-slotted car causes any other car(s) to also de-slot the offending driver must first replace these in the order they were impeded before replacing his own car.
5. A de-slotted car must be replaced where it initially left the track, but if this is on a corner or under the bridge, it may be placed on the first straight section immediately thereafter.
6. If a car is returned to the track after repairs by the driver, it must be placed back as per above Regulation G.5.

H. RACE PROCEDURE

Stage 1 – General Practice

1. Precedes first heat of first race.
2. Practice is broken into 5 minute sections after each of which drivers change lanes.

Stage 2 - Technical Inspection
1. Open to all classes during General Practice.
2. Open to individual classes in the 10 minutes preceding that particular class race.
3. Cars will be checked against all aspects stipulated in Regulations.
4. Approved cars will be stored in the Technical Park until race time.
5. All non-legal cars will be returned immediately and entrants will have the opportunity to correct and resubmit even until after a race stage has commenced.
6. The Technical Park is closed to everyone until race time.
7. No race stage will be delayed to accommodate repairs or re-inspections.
8. Cars may be randomly checked at any time in a segment.

Stage 3 – Race Heats
1. Lane placement will be done randomly by the timing system.
2. The race format will be round-robin heats, rotating through all lanes.
3. Between heats drivers will have a rest period to change lanes and do warm-up laps.
4. Finishing positions are determined by the total number of laps completed in all 4 heats.

I. CLASSES
1. A class is the grouping of cars based on any or all of the following; technical/manufacturing parameters, body shape or driver age/experience. This can be changed, removed or expanded annually on request and by general agreement.
2. Classes as from 1 January 2023:
(a) F1
(b) Sport
(c) GT
(d) Touring

J. SPECIFICATIONS

General All Classes:
1. All cars to be 1/32 scale
2. Rear tires treatment allowed.
3. No track glue will be used.
4. Wings are optional and may be attached flush to the body.
5. Body may be lightened but must retain original visual appearance.
6. Chassis may be lightened.
7. The driver is at all times responsible for the legality of his/her car.

F1/Sport/GT/Touring:
1. Chassis/Body/Interior: Any commercially available product.
2. Motor: Long can 21500 rpm maximum,
                  Short can 26000 rpm maximum.
3. Gears: Unrestricted.
4. Wheels: Unrestricted.
5. Tires: Unrestricted.
6. Weight: Unrestricted.
7. Magnets: No effect.

K. PENALTIES
1. Using an illegal controller, car or car parts in a race:
Disqualification.
2. Deadline for protests is 5 minutes after each stage.

L. TSR CHAMPIONSHIPS
1. Points are allocated for the top 12 positions in each class race.
2. Total points earned in all classes count for the club driver championship
3. Points are awarded as follows: 25-20-15-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1.
